About BALM (Bereavement and Loss Matters) Peterborough and Stamford CIC

We work with families who are experiencing the agonising loss of a child of any age. Set up by a group of bereaved parents and siblings, their own personal experiences guided how to best meet the needs of people at different stages on their grief journeys.

We work with individuals to take the heavy lifting out finding the right support by providing clear and easy to navigate signposting all in one place.

We share national and local services including support lines, practical support, organisations for specific types of loss and can guide towards organisations that fit the needs of family members. For people less comfortable working digitally factsheets are also available.

Navigation & Signposting

Taking the heavy lifting out of finding the right support, we provide an easy to navigate, searchable online signposting guide to hundreds of local and national organisations, as well as bespoke guidance via phone and email

Listening Support

Through a specially trained group at Samaritans Peterborough and District we can arrange for you to confidentially talk about things you might not want to share elsewhere, and in the early days to have a safe space before any other support is in place

Support Groups

Relaxed, facilitated group sessions for specific groups including parents, grandparents, siblings, step-parents and carers. All sessions are co-facilitated by bereavement facilitators and people who have lived with the experience of child death.

BALM gives agencies including police, hospitals, primary care, coroners, hospices and childrens services a consistent referral point ensuring families have the information they need when they most need it.
